About
Rubén
I am a culturally conscious therapist with particular sensibility towards those who seek to address and recognize their strengths and fundamental worth. I enjoy working with people and families of diverse backgrounds and across all life stages, from school age children to elder adults.I am bilingual in English and Spanish and practice psychotherapy in both languages.
My work emphasizes the importance of maintaining a reflective space where individuals, families and caregivers can receive emotional support and insight while remaining strengths focused. Empathy and compassion are essential to any transformative work.
I employ various treatment modalities that include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches as well as mindfulness. In my work with children I incorporate positive behavioral interventions as well as extensive use of Sandtray work and Play Therapy.

My professional journey
I started my individual practice after having worked for 5 years in community mental health settings. I have the opportunity of working with reputable organizations in the Bay Area such as Glide Foundation, Alternative Family Services, La Clínica de La Raza, Alzheimer’s Services of the East Bay, and the City of Berkeley’s Family Youth and Children Services.
